CODE OF CONDUCT

 

VISION

Louwsburg Primary School aims for our learners to be able to demonstrate the following qualities and competences by the time they have to leave our school at the end of Grade 7.

Learners will:

  • Be literate – (in expectation of their age group)
  • Be numerate.
  • Have positive personal qualities: be sociable, respect others, be self-confident, have positive attitudes and reach their fullest potential.
  • Have positive attitude towards their work: be-self disciplined, enjoy learning, be keen to advance, be hardworking, be punctual.
  • Be able to think critically, take responsibility and be creative.
MISSION STATEMENT

We at Louwsburg Primary set a high standard of education in order to build a firm foundation for our learners. We are committed to helping learners to become responsible, positive adults who are disciplined, self-confident, motivated and qualified.

We will achieve this by working as a unified team of educators who are well equipped, organized and dedicated.

Code of Conduct


Basic Principals

Louwsburg Primary School strives to maintain high disciplinary standards at all times. We expect self-discipline of all scholars and therefore we set certain limitations so that each learner can keep to the code of conduct. The foundation of our code of conduct is the scholar’s pride with which they wear their school uniform, with which then assert them and act.

For each pupil it has to be a privilege to be part of Louwsburg Primary School. He/She must be aware of the necessity of good law and order and must respect the school rules so his/her full potential in all aspects of his/her school life be attained.

Our main objectives of our code of conduct is to create a healthy and happy environment, in which pupils can get the full benefit of their Louwsburg Primary School Education.

  1. Introduction

The behaviour and conduct of every learner of Louwsburg Primary School must reflect the following principals:

  • Honesty based on respect towards all people, regardless of age and status.
  • Self-respect and pride regarding his/her appearance and contribution, as well as association with Louwsburg Primary School.
  • Awareness of his/her role in the school and the community, as well as his/her responsibility.
  1. General.
  • Respect towards staff, fellow scholars and visitors.
  • Respect each staff member as their superior who deserves respect and dignity.
  • Should be proud of their personal appearance by complying with the prescribed school uniform and hairstyle.
  • Are worthy of the trust placed in them.
  • Greet fellow scholars, staff and visitors friendly and with respect.
  • Always treat the opposite sex with respect and dignity.
  • Will not use crude language.
  • Will at all times be a worthy example to Louwsburg Primary School.
  • Behaviour
  • We are at all times enthusiastic in everything we do and we give our full co-operation.
  • Chewing gum is forbidden.
  • Instructions from staff must be at all times adhered to in good spirit.
  • Learners must at all times act responsibly, consider other people’s feelings and show the necessary respect.
  1. Rules regarding normal school day.

3.1 School starts at 08:00. The day ends at 12:00 for Grade 1 & 2 and at 13:00 for Grade 3. 14:00 for 4-7.

3.2 Leave your school bag outside your register class.

3.3 Register will be taken every day.

3.4 Teachers will greet the learners after each lesson and will see that law and order is maintained until the next teacher arrives.

3.5 Each class also has its own class rules.

3.6 After being absent, hand in a written excuse on the day that you return.

  1. Break
  • No learners are allowed in the classrooms during break.
  • When the bell rings at the end of break all learners line up at the assembly block in their respective grades.
  • There must be silence in the lines in order to pay attention to any announcements.
  • No physical contact will be allowed during break.
  • No learner may leave the school premises during break.
  1. School Uniform and Appearance.
  • School uniform ~ Grade 1-7.
  • A white SHORT sleeve shirt with the official green dress.
  • SHORT green socks.
  • Black school shoes. No big buckles.
  • Green jersey.
  • Only white vest under school shirt allowed.

SECOND & THIRD TERM

  • GREEN stockings (Only second & third term)
  • GREEN SHORT socks.
  • “Dri Mac” jacket (Green) No puffed or padded jackets/Green jersey.
  • Green scarf/ Green beanie.(Only second & third term)
  • Long green pants.

5.2 Boys

5.2.1 School uniform ~ Grade 1-7.

  • A grey SHORT sleeve shirt.
  • Grey short pants.
  • Long grey school socks.
  • Black lace up school shoes – No shoes with buckles/boots.
  • Green jersey
  • Only white vest allowed under school shirt.

SECOND & THIRD TERM

  • Boys may wear long grey pants.
  • Green scarf and green beanie. (Only second & third term)
  • “Dri Mac” jacket (Green) No puffed or padded jackets. /Green jersey
  • Standard belt no big /fancy buckle.
  • Sports wear
  • Green golf shirt with black shorts.
  • Ski pants are not permitted.
  • The learners must wear their takkies with short white socks.
  1. Hair.
  • Must be neat at all times.
  • Hair must be clean at all times.
  • Hair may not be coloured or permed.
  • No extensions may be added to the hair. No outrageous hairstyles permitted.
  • Gel or any other styling products may not be used.
  • Elastics must be green or black.
  • Hair must be plaited or short.
  • Hair must be neatly cut (short.) No outrageous hairstyles permitted.
  • Gel or any other styling products may not be used.
  • Colouring of hair is prohibited.

The above mentioned rules only service as guide lines and the final decision regarding the acceptable hairstyles will be at the discretion of the School Management

  1. Nails

7.1 No nail polish (cutex) may be worn.

7.2 Nails must always be clean, neat and short.

  1. Make-up

8.1 No make-up may be worn.

  1. Jewelry

9.1 Wrist watches and medic alert bracelets may be worn.

9.2 No chains, bangles, bracelets or broachers may be worn.

9.3 Girls may wear a pair studs of standard size, in gold or silver, in the lobe of the ear. (No “diamond” stones of any colour)

9.4 Boys may not wear any jewelry, except a wrist watch or medic alert bracelet.

  1. Cell Phones
  • No cell phones are allowed at school. /No electronic devices.
  • Hostel learners that must have a cell phone have to hand it into the matron as soon as he/she enters the hostel. It will be locked up and given to the child as soon as he/she leaves the hostel to go home.
  1. Littering
  • Do not litter.
  • Each class must keep their own classroom neat.
  1. Punishment.
  • Detention

All above mentioned rules, which are broken, will be dealt with by a detention system. The staff will handle the responsibility for giving of demerits. However, the staff will ensure that this punishment is dealt with in a consistent and fair manner.

  • The principal, in consultation with the Governing Body, may revise these rules at any time.
